Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has issued the latest edition of its ‘Museums in the Middle East’ journal, a biennial free publication dedicated for highlighting the latest news, events and initiatives of the region’s museums.

Under the theme of ‘Museums and Social Responsibility’, the journal’s second issue emphasises the changes to museums roles, missions and social responsibility in response to the locally and globally economic and social transformations, in order to better adapt to new modes of engagement with communities through specifically-designed and influential programs.

The journal includes articles written by prominent figures from cultural and educational institutions from the UAE and the wider region, such as Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, American University of Sharjah, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Regional Office for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage in the Arab Region, and Bethlehem University.
