Dubai:The Al Muraqqabat Police in Dubai have issued 33,625 warnings and fines against violators of movement restrictions and COVID-19 precautionary measures during the ongoing National Sterilisation Programme.

According to the director of Al Muraqqabat Police Station, Brigadier Ali Ghanim, these figures include 27,928 warnings and 5,697 fines issued against violators to the announced safety and precautionary measures against COVID-19.

Brig. Ghanim said they formed teams to implement the decisions of the Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai regarding precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus as well as working to spread public awareness across their jurisdiction zone.  

“Our officers have been working tirelessly to raise the public awareness about COVID-19, its symptoms and transition methods, as well as enforcing the announced precautionary measures. We have also distributed health packs including face masks, gloves, and hand sanitisers to members of the public,” he said.

It is worth noting that the National Sterilisation Programme is currently underway in the emirate (from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) with residents, including cyclists and pedestrians, needing permits prior to leaving their homes. Permits can be acquired through dxbpermit.gov.ae
