Dubai:The Dubai Police General Command has praised the effective participation of
members of the public in the force’s campaign "A Day Without Accidents",
which aims to make the first day of the new academic year a day without traffic
accidents.

According to statistics released by the General Department of Traffic in Dubai
Police, the first day of school saw a 66.6% decrease in the number of road
injuries compared to the same day last year. The Department also noted that
the campaign, which benefited 401,840 beneficiaries, resulted in a 31% drop in
the number of traffic accidents on the first day of school as compared to the
same day last year.

Colonel Jumaa bin Suwaidan, acting director of the General Department of
Traffic at Dubai Police, said that the campaign- under the slogan "Together We
Make Dubai's Roads Safer"- has achieved its objectives in reducing the number
of road fatalities and increasing traffic awareness among the public.
“This year, the campaign focused on two objectives: raising traffic standards
and reinforcing COVID-19 precautionary measures among road users,” “Dubai
Police briefed school bus drivers, supervisors and students of the precautionary
measures that must be applied on the buses or at schools to prevent the spread
of the Coronavirus,” he explained.
