Dubai: Dubai Foundation for Women & Children organized the training program of 2021 in collaboration with the Indian Consulate in Dubai with the aim of developing the skills of the diplomatic missions concerned with human trafficking cases for 3 days at the consulate headquarters.
In this occasion Mrs. Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director General of Dubai Foundation for Women's and Children, said: The program targeted 60 trainees from the Indian Consulate and supervised by a specialist in this field. The program was divided into two main axes. The first one included a brief about the Foundation services, a detailed definition of human trafficking and the most prominent practices that are applied to protect and care for cases of human trafficking. In addition, the program introduced the trainees to the target groups of this program, which focused on domestic workers, hostesses in hotels, restaurant workers, employees of beauty centers and private companies. The trainees were also briefed on the characteristics of this crime, its factors, rates of spread, causes, effects, and approved methods for intervention, and the treatment to this problem. As for the second axis, it was concerned with stories about cases of human trafficking received by the institution and how they were managed from the moment of receiving the communication, passing through data collection and the development of support, intervention and treatment plans, provided with a display of contact numbers for shelter centers and institutions in the country to request assistance in the event of this crime.
She added: This training program aimed at achieving a set of objectives, the most important of which is to spread awareness among external parties on human trafficking issues, to give each party an effective role in cooperating with the tireless efforts undertaken by the United Arab Emirates in addressing this crime as social phenomena that need a comprehensive integrated action. The program also aims to activate collaboration between the Foundation and the Indian Consulate as a large community of this nationality lives on the country's land, so it is important to be aware of these crimes and trained in the best practices adopted globally in dealing with cases at the social and psychological level. Moreover, she indicated that the Foundation has used various means to deliver the awareness message to the group most vulnerable to such crime, including newsletters that have been translated into more than 10 languages to be available to different nationalities, and assures that the Foundation is interested in launching this program because the Foundation is primarily a shelter for the care of victims of human trafficking and abused, and it is also comprehensive social foundation concerned with preventing this crime before it occurs by educating the public and the most vulnerable groups. It also works under the umbrella of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in continuous harmony and coordination with the aim of adding more achievements to the great balance achieved by the UAE in this field, which has been highly praised regionally and internationally. She pointed out that there is a schedule for other areas of cooperation between the Dubai Foundation for Women & Children and other external parties in order to raise awareness of human trafficking issues that are to be held in various other consulates and embassies.
