Dubai: The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has participated in the 15th Annual Scientific Research Forum taking place under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and organized by the University of Sharjah, under the theme "Effective Community Partnership for Impactful and Sustainable Scientific Research”. 

During the forum, DFWAC presented a joint research study in collaboration with the Research Institute of Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Sharjah, titled "Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Child Abuse and Parental Treatment Patterns in the UAE in 2021." The study, based on a quantitative approach and intentional sample selection, scrutinized the repercussions of the pandemic on child abuse rates and parental behaviors within the UAE.
The foundation underscored the significance of the study, which contributes to sustainable outcomes by identifying challenges and proposing innovative solutions. The research explored the psychological impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on children in addition to analyzing the correlation between parental treatment patterns and the pandemic. The paper also looked into various types and forms of abuse, parents' adaptability in their parenting methods, and families' awareness of helplines available to provide necessary support during the pandemic.

HE Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director General of DFWAC, emphasized that the foundation's participation in the event stems from its status as a prominent organization committed to fostering robust work environments through scientific research and studies grounded in a methodical approach.

Al Mansouri also noted that the  scientific research serves as a conduct for developing work tools and plays a crucial role in devising sustainable solutions to address both present and future challenges.

She added that this partnership with the University of Sharjah, acknowledges its substantial role in ensuring the study's success and the fulfillment of its objectives.
