Dubai: Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), honoured the most frequent users of public transport users “Public Transport Champions”, including general public and people of determination. The event was held as part of marking the 14th Public Transport Day themed ‘Gym on the Go’ as well as RTA’s 18th Anniversary.

Honourees included three winners from the public and people of determination categories who were the most frequent riders of public transport over the last five years. 

Al Tayer congratulated the winners who made public transport their favourite mobility means across Dubai. He reiterated RTA’s commitment to promoting the use of Dubai’s integrated public transport means. Such efforts contribute to the realisation of RTA’s vision to become ‘The world leader in seamless and sustainable mobility’ through developing innovative and sustainable transport services capable of uplifting customer services to world-class standards. 
Public Transport Champions

Al Tayer honoured six Public Transport Champions among the most users of public transport means. From the People of Determination category, three winners were honoured namely: Dhiren Bhatia (8000 journeys), Salem Al Somahi (7000 journeys), and Mohamed Abdul Kader (6750 journeys). He also honoured three winners from the public, namely: Mohamed Thalangara Aboobaker (15,900 journeys), Mohammad Ahmadzadeh (14,442 journeys), and Sirajudeen Abdul Kader (13,900 journeys). 

First-place winners in each of the two categories got one million nol Plus points, the runner-up received 700,000 nol points, and the third earned 500,000 nol points. 

‘Gym on the Go’ RTA is continuing the celebration of the 14th Public Transport Day under the theme ‘Gym on the Go’’ aiming to convey a positive message to the community, thus underlining its role in supporting public health and physical fitness by encouraging the use of public transport means in their travels.

Marking the event, RTA has introduced several initiatives and activities including the "GPS CANVAS Interface" initiative, aimed at encouraging people to use public transport on the same route and launching an interactive digital game accessible through smartphones to engage the community in protecting endangered species and reducing the carbon footprint.
