Dubai Police Triumphs with Seven Accolades at the Prestigious IACP Awards

Dubai: The Dubai Police General Command extends its heartfelt congratulations to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates on receiving seven distinct awards at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) AWARDS 2023. These accolades were announced during the IACP conference held in San Diego, California.

This marks the second occasion Dubai Police has clinched the highest number of awards from IACP, mirroring its achievement in 2021 when it also secured seven awards. Since its first participation in 2019, Dubai Police has amassed a commendable 25 awards, with 11 individual and 14 initiative-based recognitions.

Upon their return from the United States, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, honoured the winning teams and individuals at the Officers Club. He praised this significant achievement, adding another feather to Dubai Police's cap of excellence. 

"Our success, with seven awards, reinforces Dubai Police's position as the top-ranking law enforcement organisation. It also reflects our unwavering commitment to uphold Dubai Police's leading position," he remarked.

Al Marri also commended the General Department of Excellence and Pioneering, the initiative teams, and the award-winning individuals for their efforts in enhancing Dubai Police's international reputation.

Meanwhile His Excellency Major General Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli, Assistant Commandant for Excellence and Pioneering Affairs, emphasised that these accolades signify Dubai Police's dedication to innovation, development, and implementing best global practices to ensure safety and happiness within the community. 

"Achieving these awards reflects the exemplary performance of Dubai Police's talented Emirati workforce," he continued. 

IACP Awards 

Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Mulla, Director of the General Department for Excellence and Pioneering, elaborated on the awards won by Dubai Police:

1. The Community Policing Award - Recognised Dubai Police's community-based initiative "Positive Spirit", which promotes positivity, tolerance, and coexistence through various sporting and community events.

2. The Michael Shanahan Leadership in Public/Private Cooperation Award - Won by the Virtual Technology Centre in the General Department of Training for fostering public-private collaboration in public safety and trust enhancement.

3. The Webber Seavey Excellence in Law Enforcement Award - A category introduced for the first time this year, was clinched by Dubai Police for its innovative Smart Police Stations (SPS). This award recognises efforts promoting a standard of excellence that exemplifies law enforcement's contribution and dedication to the quality of life in local communities.

IACP Awards for individuals won by Dubai Police included:

1. The Traffic Safety Award - Presented to Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Qaidi, Director of Bur Dubai Patrols in the General Department of Traffic, for his instrumental role in enhancing road safety and reducing traffic-related fatalities.

2. The IACP Chief David Cameron Leadership in Environmental Crimes Award - Secured by Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Khalifa Hamad Al Shamsi of the Environmental Crime Department in the General Department of Criminal Investigation. Winning this makes Dubai Police the first Middle Eastern organisation to receive the award that celebrates significant contributions to environmental protection

3. The 40 Under 40 Award - Won by Expert Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Engineer Muhammad Ali Al Qasim from the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology. This accolade honours 40 law enforcement professionals under 40 who display exemplary leadership traits.
