Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Airport Security, returned lost items worth AED 26 million to their owners in 2024. This accomplishment stems from the hard work of teams who promptly and accurately handled all lost item reports using the lost and found system. 

Furthermore, the Airport Security teams maintained communication with those reporting the losses and ensured the return of their belongings, supporting Dubai Police's strategic directives to foster a safer and happier city.

Brigadier Hamoudah Al Suwaidi Al Ameri, Director of the General Department of Airport Security at Dubai Police, highlighted that Dubai has a diverse, multicultural population and is dedicated to fostering happiness and security within the community. He stated, “The city promotes values of tolerance, coexistence, and social responsibility. As one of the world's most attractive cities, Dubai Airport is the busiest gateway, handling over 92 million travel movements in 2024, including travelers, transit passengers, and arrivals. This high traffic volume has also led to numerous cases of lost personal luggage, including valuable items and cash.”

Brig. Al Ameri reaffirmed Dubai Police’s keenness to foster a sense of safety and reassurance while building trust among all travelers. “Over the years, the General Department of Airport Security has established a solid reputation both locally and internationally by providing exceptional service to travelers and continuously enhancing its offerings to meet the needs of all airport users in Dubai. Several initiatives and projects have been launched to streamline security operations related to safeguarding travelers and their luggage, including the lost and found system that ensures belongings are returned to their owners anywhere in the world,” he concluded.
