Dubai: Second Lieutenant Márk Simon of the Hungarian Police has hailed Dubai Police as a global role model in strategic leadership and digital transformation, praising its integration of smart technologies and readiness across operational sectors.

Simon participated in the second edition of the Police Innovation and Leadership Diploma (PIL) organised by Dubai Police in collaboration with Rochester Institute of Technology. The programme brought together 53 officers from 38 countries, all seeking to deepen their knowledge of innovation, leadership, and international cooperation in law enforcement.

A Personal Sacrifice for Professional Growth

Shortly after arriving in Dubai, Simon received news of the early birth of his daughter in Hungary—an emotional moment that reinforced the value of his journey. “Despite the challenge, it reminded me of why I am here. The leadership experience I’ve gained will shape my career and benefit the next generation I proudly serve—as a father and an officer.”

A Comprehensive Leadership Journey

Over four months, Simon participated in expert-led academic sessions featuring senior officials from the FBI and the UK Metropolitan Police, underwent rigorous physical training, and participated in collaborative group projects and informative field visits.

“The programme allowed me to connect with officers from various policing cultures and exchange ideas on challenges and opportunities in global policing. We worked closely together, learning from one another and building lasting professional networks,” he said.

A national champion in CrossFit and combat sports, Simon especially appreciated the diploma’s emphasis on physical and mental resilience. “Effective leadership demands high endurance, emotional intelligence, and leading by example—qualities this diploma instilled in all participants.”

Admiration for Dubai Police Technologies

Simon deeply admired Dubai Police’s advanced systems, including the Smart Police Stations (SPS), the AI-powered Drone Box response system, and intelligent traffic management technologies.

“What I witnessed in Dubai—the seamless integration of smart solutions into daily police operations—was truly remarkable. It reflects a clear vision and commitment to public trust. These systems do more than streamline processes; they redefine modern policing and offer models worth adopting globally,” he said.

He also highlighted the UAE SWAT Challenge as a personal highlight of the programme. Having participated in similar competitions in the US such as SWAT Round-Up, he said, “Watching the challenge live was exhilarating—I wished I could be part of it. I know the level of discipline and tactical training it demands. It inspired me personally, as someone passionate about intensive tactical fitness.”

Leadership in the Field and Beyond

In Hungary, Simon leads operations and security patrols for a public order unit while also training new officers and engaging in police sports. “Leadership isn’t just learned in classrooms,” he said. “It’s a lived experience—whether on the training ground or in active duty. Excellence and dedication go hand in hand.”
