Dubai: In celebration of the International Day of Families, the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, in collaboration with the Community Development Authority, organised a series of awareness and entertainment activities for senior citizens at the Senior Citizens’ Council.

The event aligns with Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and supports the UAE’s declaration of 2024 as the Year of Community, which aims to strengthen social ties and promote values of solidarity and cohesion across all segments of society, particularly senior citizens, who represent a generation of wisdom, dedication, and national contribution.

Generations of Wisdom

First Lieutenant Zahra Taleb Al Ghaithi, Chairperson of the Al Maha Women’s Committee at the General Department of Traffic, explained that the event reflects Dubai Police’s dedication to enhancing road safety awareness among senior citizens in a framework of appreciation and respect.

“Our senior citizens are the backbone of our society. This initiative highlights our commitment to recognising their lifelong contributions while aequipping them with traffic safety knowledgewithin residential areas and public facilities,” she said.

Cultural and Educational Engagement

The event featured a variety of activities, including awareness talks on traffic safety, interactive educational games, traditional Emirati performances that celebrated family bonds, and light competitions with symbolic prizes and giveaways.

The programme also included an open discussion with senior citizens, where participants shared their life experiences and provided feedback on community issues. Special emphasis was placed on their influential role in guiding younger generations and promoting traffic safety awareness within their families.

A Broader Community Vision

First Lieutenant Al Ghaithi affirmed that the initiative is part of a wider series of programmes being implemented by Dubai Police during the Year of Community, aimed at fostering police-community partnerships and strengthening mutual trust.

“Our goal is to create lasting connections with all members of society and to ensure that the values of safety, respect, and responsibility are shared across generations,” she added.
