Dubai: The Positive Spirit Council, in cooperation with the Cultural Diversity Department of the Security Awareness Department at the General Department of Community Happiness in Dubai Police, organized an awareness event for the Filipino community participating in the ‘Community Basketball Tournament’.

The event aimed to educate attendees about various cybercrimes, including online extortion, electronic fraud, and financial transaction-related offenses. It also provided crucial information on traffic safety laws and regulations.

The awareness event, held during the tournament at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, educated nearly 600 members of the Filipino community on how to contact the Dubai Police. Participants learned to call the emergency number 999 for urgent situations and 901 for non-emergencies. The event also highlighted the various services Dubai Police offers to enhance security and promote the well-being and happiness of community members.

Ms. Fatima Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council and Head of the Cultural Diversity Section, highlighted that the awareness event accompanying the ‘Community Basketball Tournament’ underscores Dubai Police's ongoing commitment to educating all communities in Dubai, especially the youth. “This initiative is essential for empowering them to communicate effectively with police and protect themselves against online fraud, while raising awareness of local laws and traffic safety regulations,” she added.

Ms. Buhajeer further noted that the event aligns with Dubai Police's continuous efforts to enhance the quality of life, foster social harmony, and promote the values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for others.
