Dubai Police Dismantle Drug-Peddling Gang Run by Overseas Leader

Dubai: Dubai Police, through the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, has arrested a criminal gang of seven suspects of an Asian nationality who were promoting drugs in the emirate under the direction of a trafficker based outside the country. The suspects used multiple drop-off locations to avoid detection.

Brigadier Khaled bin Muiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police, said the operation followed meticulous field surveillance and coordinated searches that tracked the suspects’ movements and communications. Officers raided the residence of the first suspect and found a quantity of crystal meth in his possession. Investigations confirmed he had received instructions from a trafficker abroad to distribute drugs at two separate sites, each containing one kilogram.

“A carefully planned ambush led to the arrest of the remaining six suspects, including those who hid the drugs at the two sites and those who arrived to collect them,” Brigadier bin Muiza added. “Ongoing enquiries revealed that the gang relied on dispersing quantities across different locations to exchange consignments or deliver drugs to users. They were working with an international network outside the UAE to traffic and promote narcotics.”

The total seizures amounted to approximately 26 kilograms of narcotics and 27,913 tramadol tablets, including crystal meth, hashish, heroin and marijuana. Brigadier bin Muiza affirmed that Dubai Police will continue to protect the community from this serious scourge. He underlined that the successful arrests and the disruption of the gang’s plan reflect Dubai Police’s advanced crime-fighting ecosystem, which integrates artificial intelligence capabilities with highly qualified specialist personnel.

“Dubai Police will strike with an iron fist at anyone who attempts to jeopardise public safety, and we will sever the networks of traffickers and criminals even if they operate from abroad,” he said.

Dubai Police urges members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour, activities or messages by calling 901 or via the Police Eye service on the Dubai Police Smart App.
