Sharjah: Her Excellency Hanadi Al Yafei emphasized that the theme of Emirati Children’s Day 2026, “The Right to Digital Literacy,” reflects an advanced awareness of the importance of empowering children to access knowledge in the digital age safely and responsibly. She explained that the digital world has become an integral part of the modern learning environment, making it essential to prepare children to engage with technology as a tool for knowledge, research, and creativity, while fostering awareness that protects them from the risks of the digital space and safeguards their mental and emotional well-being.

She added that child protection in the digital environment is a fundamental part of their right to digital literacy. Children need a safe knowledge space that allows them to explore, learn, and develop their skills within a framework that balances digital learning with social life and natural activities, which are essential to their growth. She also noted that this responsibility does not rest on families alone, but requires collaboration between educational, media, and technology institutions to build a digital environment that meets children’s needs, protects their psychological well-being, and opens safe spaces for learning, innovation, and intellectual growth.
