Dubai Schools to Continue Distance Learning Until April 3, Says KHDA

Dubai: The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has confirmed that all private educational institutions in Dubai will continue distance learning until Friday, April 3, 2026.

The directive follows guidance from the Education, Human Development and Community Council and applies to private schools, nurseries, and universities across the emirate. KHDA reiterated the decision on Tuesday, stating that remote learning remains in place to ensure the safety of students and staff.

In an official statement, KHDA said there is no change to the current arrangement, with classes to remain online until further notice. The authority also shared the update عبر its social media channels, emphasizing that student safety is the top priority.

However, KHDA has left the door open for institutions seeking an earlier return to in-person learning. Schools wishing to reopen before April 3 must submit a formal request detailing their specific circumstances and providing clear justification.

The authority clarified that such requests will not receive blanket approval. Instead, each application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and forwarded to the Ministry of Education for a final decision. The ministry will assess each request in line with approved regulations and procedures.

KHDA stressed that the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and the wider community will be the key factor in determining whether any school can resume on-site learning earlier than scheduled.

The announcement comes as major UAE school groups, including GEMS Education and Taaleem, have already submitted requests to reopen campuses from March 30, ahead of the current deadline.
