Sharjah: Sharjah Police (SP), through its Directorate of Drug Prevention and Control, has launched a month-long awareness campaign against drugs and controlled substances, in partnership with its Security Media Department and two strategic partners: Sharjah Islamic Bank and City Centre Al Zahia.

The campaign aims to strengthen community awareness of the dangers of narcotics, entrench a culture of prevention, and protect members of society—particularly young people—from what the force described as a social scourge.

National effort

It forms part of broader national efforts to combat drugs by intensifying awareness programmes and initiatives and reinforcing the role of families, educational institutions, and the wider community in early prevention with the goal of building a more informed and secure society.

What the campaign involves

Activities include awareness messages across social media platforms, educational programmes aimed at different segments of society, the distribution of materials promoting positive behaviour and social responsibility, and the collective rejection of drugs.

Beyond policing

Sharjah Police stressed that tackling drug-related issues goes beyond policing; it encompasses prevention, rehabilitation, and humanitarian support. The force said its primary objective is to protect, rescue, and support individuals in returning to a safe and stable life and urged anyone in need of consultation, assistance, or treatment to call the dedicated helpline at (800) 4654, noting that all cases are handled with full confidentiality.

Community call

The force added that it works to provide the necessary support, reintegrate recovered individuals into society, and reduce the risk of relapse. It called on community members to engage with the campaign's programmes and make use of its awareness messages as part of its ongoing preventive efforts to protect the next generation, promote security and stability, and build a drug-free society.
