Dubai: United Arab Emirates His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, mourned the passing of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who passed away earlier today, 21 September 2026.

His Excellency extended his heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathies to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; the Al Maktoum family; and the people of the UAE.

His Excellency said: “Today, we have lost a cherished national figure who was known for his benevolence and generosity and for the lasting contributions he made to Dubai’s journey, particularly through his support for the sports and youth sectors. The legacy of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will remain present in the memory of Dubai and its people, bearing witness to decades of loyalty and devotion.”

He added: “We pray to Almighty Allah to bestow His boundless mercy and forgiveness upon the deceased, grant him the highest place in Paradise, and give His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Al Maktoum family and the people of the UAE patience and solace. Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
