Sharjah Public Library exhibition will celebrate Hand Painted Art Exhibition, Jan 25 –30

Sharjah:Sharjah Public Library (SPL) is bringing together 37 artists and renowned cultural personalities from 18 countries worldwide at an Art Exhibition from January 25 – 30, 2020. To be hosted at the Sharjah Public Library, the exhibition will highlight the details of the ‘hand painted’ form and will feature exquisite works of art created with broad tip instruments, brush pens and other writing instruments.

Amongst the line-up of artists exhibiting their works at the Art Exhibition are Emirati artists Nada Al Mazmi and Muna Mohammed Al AlJuraishi; Russian artist Maria Zheleznova; Hadeel Azmi from Jordan; Syrian artist Nogod AlMasry; Samira Zain from the Comoros Islands, and Paola Moscatelli from Italy. They will be joined by other renowned artists from across the Netherlands, India, Japan and Argentina.

Alongside the Art Exhibition, SPL is organising an array of edutainment activities and workshops such as introduction to Islamic geometry patterns and motifs, drawing on porcelain, Arabic calligraphy, English calligraphy, still life drawing, colouring with acrylic on 24K gold rolling papers, and several more.

Eman  Bushulaibi, Director of SPL, said: “Holding the Art Exhibition at SPL reflects our commitment to emphasising the cultural significance of books and art in nurturing creativity and fostering innovation. By bringing diverse art forms closer to the public, we also aim to support the emergent creative community in the UAE and the region.”

“This engaging exhibition is a platform for emerging artists to showcase their artworks and inspire visitors and residents to pick up unique creative practices. It also boosts cultural tourism as visitors can now experience Sharjah’s cultural initiatives through the stellar line-up of artists we have curated from around the world,” she added.

Calligraphers presenting at the Art Exhibition will showcase their distinctive art form, and educate visitors on the different portrayed versions, tools and techniques of this captivating visual medium. By hosting the Art Exhibition, SPL also seeks to draw the attention of children and adults to its libraries and foster a love of reading and learning.
