Third day of ‘Let’s have FUNN’ virtual event promises loads of entertainment with 4 exciting short films

Sharjah:It is a true feast of films for young cinema lovers as ‘Let’s have FUNN’ continues its screenings, with four exciting, shorts scheduled to be streamed tomorrow (Wednesday), from 5pm to 5:30pm. They will all be available for free streaming on the FUNN – Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children – website https://funn.ae/letshavefunn/.  

Locally produced The Plant, directed by Emirati Hamda Al Midfa, will kick off tomorrow’s line up. The five-minute film follows a little girl who while pining for a replacement of her broken iPad, comes across a flowering plant on the streets and takes it home to grow it. Seeing her perseverance, her mother gifts her a new iPad. Find out what happens to her plant, in the movie.

A fun, animated short from Switzerland, The Last Day of Autumn, chronicles the adventures of several animals in a beautiful forest who are determined to enjoy the last days of autumn before winter steals their joy. Marjolaine Perreten, who founded the Savigny International Animation Film Festival, is the director.

I Found Out What To Do, by Iranian filmmakers Reyhane Kavosh and Ali Raeis, is an animation film in Persian with Arabic and English subtitles. The story revolves around Shirin and her friend Sepher who midway into colouring a picture realise they do not have all the colours required to complete it. Watch how their imagination comes into play as they are determined to complete the exercise.

The final screening for tomorrow is named The Butterfly – an animation film from the UK, directed by Noel Clarke, who  fashions a thriller out of a story of a caterpillar that falls in love with a butterfly but is imprisoned in a glass jar by some children before he can profess his love to her. Watch the movie to find out if he will be able to escape to find his true love.

The films that will be screened on Thursday include Embracing Amazement, Bear With Me, Monster Sitter, Pantin, and Talent Scout. All the films are meant for a 12+ audience.

Let’s have FUNN is a first-of-its-kind virtual media arts event organised by FUNN, a Sharjah-based organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting media arts learning among children and youth in the UAE. The event brings together a stellar line-up of Arab and international artists, filmmakers, and industry experts to deliver a series of inspiring creative workshops and participate in discussions, in addition to film screenings, from November 12 – 16, 2020.
