Dubai Police receives Delegation from Italian Law Enforcement

Dubai: The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, H.E Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri has recently received a delegation from the Carabinieri, the national gendarmerie of Italy and one of main Italian law enforcement agencies.

The delegation, headed by Lt. General Enzo Bernardini, Carabinieri Deputy General Command, was received within the framework of enhancing cooperation and coordination between both parties, and the exchange of experiences and information that mutually benefit both bodies.

Dubai Police Command & Control Centre

Al-Marri accompanied the Italian delegation to the the Command and Control Centre where they were briefed about the latest services and initiatives that enhance security and safety in the emirate, as well as the centre’s equipment and latest additions such as the 3D map that covers Dubai, and the patrols dispatching system that ensures swift and efficient response to reports and emergency calls.

Smart Security Prediction System

During the visit, Lt. General Bernardini and his officers also learned about the force’s "Smart Security Prediction" system that foresees crimes and analyses criminal data. The system is within the framework of Dubai Police’s keenness to foresee the future and reduce crime by using mathematical, predictive analytics, and other analytical techniques in law enforcement to identify potential criminal activity.

Smart Police Station (SPS)

The delegation was also briefed on the various services provided by the Smart Police Station (SPS) during a visit to the SPS - Dubai Police General HQ branch. The SPS is located at several locations across Dubai, and is open 24/7 to offer 27 key services, such as reporting crimes and traffic incidents, as well as a further 33 community-based services, which range from obtaining a good-conduct certificate to social support for victims of family violence.

Global Policing Competitiveness Platform

The Carabinieri delegation were also introduced to the Global Policing Competitiveness Platform that aims at making an accurate comparison of performances and sharing experiences and best practices between police agencies, as well as publishing "Global Policing Competitiveness Report", a first of its kind.

eCrime Platform

The Carabinieri Deputy General Command and his accompanied officers then toured the eCrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, and learned about the platform which allows members of the public, private and public entities to report issues and crimes in the cyberspaces namely; suspicious emails, social media related issues, hacking, online bullying, and cyber-extortion.

Innovation Lab

The delegation also toured Dubai Police's Security Innovation Laboratory and went over its contents of modern technology and the latest smart services as well as the AI-based security innovations. In addition to the latest police patrols equipped with various types of security and surveillance technologies that are directly related to the command and control centre at the General HQ.

Ghiath

They were also introduced to Ghiath, a police patrol equipped with artificial intelligence systems featuring facial recognition technology, such as roof-mounted camera that provide live broadcasting to the command-and-control unit, the plate identification smart system to identify wanted vehicles and other smart systems.

Success Stories

Al Marri also shared with the Italian delegation the latest achievements and successful operations that Dubai Police carried out to arrest most wanted criminals internationally in cooperation with police agencies around the world.

                                                                                                                                               Lt. General Bernardini thanked Lt. General Al Marri for the warm reception, praising the great achievements that Dubai Police has accomplished in the security field by utilising the latest technologies.

Towards the end of the visit, Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief and Lt. General Bernardini exchanged commemorative shields.
