Dubai Police organizes Forum to Secure Expo 2020

Dubai: The Dubai Police General Command, in cooperation with Ministry of Interior and partners at local and national levels, has recently organized the second forum for liaisons officers in the country to review security plan scenarios, and procedures for securing the upcoming EXPO 2020, and to check the readiness of teams and committees involved. 

The forum, which was held at the Trade Centre Hall in the Expo site, was attended by Major General Engineer Counsellor Mohammed Saif Al Zaffin, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs; Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Major General Abdullah Hussein Khan Ahli, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Community Happiness Affairs and Logistics Support; Ali Khalifa Al Ghais, Chief Security Officer World Expo 2020; Brigadier Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of Excellence and Pioneering; representatives of GCCPOL and the Ministry of Interior; as well as 36 liaisons officers from different countries, and a number of strategic partners of Dubai Police. 

The forum was inaugurated by Maj.Gen.Eng. Al Zaffin who stressed Dubai Police keenness to persistently develop its security system to professionally secure the Expo 2020 and to utilise the latest modern and advanced technologies in this regard. He also explained that all authorities at the local and federal levels are fully prepared to secure the Expo 2020 event and the security plans are 100% ready to be executed. 

Al Zaffin further clarified that authorities at the local and federal levels have stepped up their efforts at an accelerated pace and raised the level of performance and excellence in various fields. "They also ensured the optimum use of modern systems and technologies and the link between security programs to meet the visions and directives of our leadership in hosting Expo 2020 in a manner that befits Dubai's international reputation," he added.

Brig. Dr. Saleh Al-Hamrani, Deputy Director of the General Department for Excellence and Pioneering, Chairman of the Governance Committee to Secure Expo 2020, reviewed the organizational structure of the Security Council in preparation of hosting the Expo 2020.

During the forum, participating entities reviewed security plans, mechanisms of coordination, and mechanism of managing and receiving delegations. 

Colonel Tariq Hilal Al-Suwaidi, Chairman of the International Liaison Committee for the Expo event, said the forum reflects Dubai Police's keenness on implementing the best international policing practices in hosting the event. He emphasized the ability of the UAE in general, and Dubai in particular to host such international events.

Al-Suwaidi added that all authorities have been working to harness all capabilities and artificial intelligence technologies to secure Expo 2020 and its visitors. He noted the Dubai Police, which has placed security Expo 2020 among its top priorities, has harnessed all its capabilities, smart and technical systems to provide the necessary support in both the security and service fields. "The Force follows up closely on all task forces, with the aim of providing smart services to visitors, organizers and participating delegations,” he concluded.
