Work culture and work attitude of Kerala must change for its industrial growth\':Dr. Sohan Roy

Sharjah: In his recent interview, Dr.Sohan Roy, a renowned Poet and Founder Chairman & CEO of Sharjah-based Aries Group stated that industrial progress in Kerala can be achieved only if people change their attitude towards work. He was invited as a guest for 'Friday Open House' organized by a distinguished health expert, Dr.SS Lal. Medimix Group Managing Director AV Anoop and S. Biju, a known media personality, were also present.

Dr.Roy quoted that Kerala needs to be more investment-friendly. But, at the same time, it is important to recognize that all jobs are equally decent. In the Gulf region, many Malayalees work in the construction sector for a meager amount of Rs 25,000 monthly. Such is the scenario that they are not able to send even ten thousand rupees home. Contrary to this, many Bengalis are working in Kerala who send more than Rs 20,000 to their homeland.

This disparity is due to the arrogance of people who want to work only in 'blue-collar jobs in their own country. He added that Kerala has a bright future for investors who wish to invest in educational content development. He believes that with the growing popularity of online education, demand for innovative and interactive content will increase in the future. To cater to this demand, home theaters will soon become part of every home.Dr.Roy also quoted that theaters can attract spectators by offering the best visual experience required to screen larger-than-life movies. This will, in turn, increase the revenue of theaters and producers. In fact, OTT platforms are currently providing great opportunities for small-budget films.

Responding to audience questions, Dr.Roy said that Aries Group has already implemented several projects for its employees. The Group was the first to launch a scheme to pay 'Spouse Salary' to unemployed wives of its employees as part of its women empowerment initiative.

Aries Group also provides monthly pensions to the parents of the employees, decent retirement opportunities to the employees who have completed the required period, financial security to the parents of the employees in case of untimely demise, educational allowances, and scholarships for the education of the children, special incentives to the employees for starting startups, social security and other schemes. Apart from the above, a few of the other schemes introduced by the company include reserving fifty percent of the shares for employees. As part of this, shares worth between Rs.5 lakh and Rs.1 crore were issued cash to eligible employees last year.Aries Group's mainstay activities include maritime consultancy, ship design, UT gauging ships, rope access, interior and aviation surveys. In addition, the Group has invested in media, film production, event management, television, and tourism
