Dubai: The Dubai Police, in coordination with Rabdan Academy, has recently organised a course on anti-money laundering and financial risks for 25 personnel of the General Department of Criminal Investigation.

Brigadier Badran Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department for Training at Dubai Police, explained that Dubai Police prioritises the training and qualification of human cadres. “Dubai Police is keen to cooperate with international institutions and companies and learn about the best practices in training and specialised programs on the latest in the security and police fields,” he said. 

Brig. Al Shamsi added that the Smart Training Centre of the General Department of Training at Dubai Police enhances the educational and professional skills and levels of employees, and develops the training process in line with international standards and meets the requirements of the modern era. 

Brig. Al Shamsi further explained that the course tackles concepts of financial crimes and terrorism. It also assesses the leading political, economic and social causes of fraud and terrorist financing and assesses the risks of suspicious activities. “The course enables Dubai Police employees to face related challenges in the field of money laundering and to keep abreast of the most prominent criminal methods,” he continued. 

The course included a detailed explanation of money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, combating money laundering and terrorist financing, the global and UAE legal stand in this regard. It also featured tackling money laundering and terrorist financing best practices, the weaknesses of financial institutions in the face of money laundering and terrorist financing and other related topics.
