Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority’s Medical Education and Research Department recently participated at UAE Innovates event at Expo 2020.

The department displayed “Virti” which is the latest technology in vocational training.

Virti is a virtual reality device that places healthcare providers into on-demand, experiential training environments through 2D and 360-degree learning experiences. It helps in improving the employees’ performance by generating reports and suggesting necessary improvements needed to increase the competencies after analysing employee performance during the virtual training session.

Virti provides a more realistic experience enabling trainees to deal with different real-life scenarios, with different communication skills for doctor-patient encounters. It also allows having different scenarios in dealing with virtual patients that can serve in assessing medical students.

The device captures the most accurate details related to the trainee’s performance during the training experience through data analysis. Based on the results, the system generates reports and proposes enhancements to increase the competencies of the medical team, which leads to an improvement in the health services.

Dr. Wadeia Mohamed Sharif, Director of the Medical Education and Research Department at the DHA highlighted the importance of introducing latest technologies that follow international standards and practices in medical training and education. Such technologies help enhance performance of health care providers and better prepares them to respond to various situations during their medical careers.

She said  that training and continuous medical education is of vital importance in the health sector and that DHA prioritises this field to ensure medical professionals receive the highest level of quality medical education and training throughout their careers.
