Dubai: Acclaimed Indian singer and music composer Amit Trivedi dived deep into his Indian roots on Saturday (26 February) to deliver an uplifting mix of songs to a packed audience at Expo 2020 Dubai’s Jubilee Stage.

With four accompanying singers and a five-piece band, the versatile 42-year-old music sensation demonstrated why he is one of the Indian film industry’s most sought-after music directors.

“I’ve been yearning to hear this applause for two years,” he told a delighted crowd at the start of the concert. “Thank you, Dubai. Thank you, Expo. Thank you, fans.”

The Amit Trivedi Show began with a folk-style song, distinguished by the Indian flute and percussion, and melodious harmonies by Trivedi and his co-singers, before moving to songs of love. Trivedi also travelled across India to bring out new folk-inspired songs from states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

Trivedi carved a name for himself by providing memorable music for a number of Indian movies, such as Dev.D, English Vinglish, Udaan, Wake Up Sid, Queen, Shaandaar, Udta Punjab, Bombay Velvet, Dear Zindagi, Qaidi Band, Secret Superstar, and many more.

One of the most in-demand music composers in India, who continues to break new ground in blending genres, Trivedi is bringing in fresh new voices, and originating new trends in the Bollywood music industry. His various accolades include a National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Dev.D.
