du brings digital knowledge to senior citizens

Dubai: Coinciding with the activities of the holy month of Ramadan, the Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) revealed an initiative to transfer digital knowledge to senior citizens who are members of Thukher Club in collaboration with du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC). The initiative includes a set of trainings on the use of smart devices and applications, and the most prominent government and service applications that help them reach their needs. The first phase that will last for three months will find out the senior citizens priorities of the trainings to adapt the content to suit that.
The initiative was announced during an event held at Al Barsha Community Center of CDA’s, attended by His Excellency Ahmed Julfar, Director General, CDA and Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO, du.
During the event, du distributed smart tablets to senior citizens in preparation for them to enter the digital world, with lessons scheduled on a weekly basis after the holy month of Ramadan.
HE Ahmed Julfar said that the contributions of major leading companies in the country to support community initiatives and programs is one of the most important factors for the success of social development plans. He pointed out that the community development and the happiness of its members will remain an integral part that cannot be overlooked in the progress of any country.
“I thank those responsible for organizing and supporting this initiative. It is certain that digital knowledge has become a reality that shouldn’t be disregard. The elderly need it more and more because this knowledge can provide them with easy access to most of the services and can facilitate their lives. It will help them obtaining services with minimal effort and in line with their circumstances.
“Today, all government services are available through smart apps, and all requirements can be obtained through delivery services, as well as requesting medical assistance and even attending some medical appointments.
“The contributions of major companies and institutions such as du enhances the improvement of community services and standards. It helps introducing new ideas and initiatives that employ the expertise and resources of specialized authorities in various fields to meet the needs of community members”, Julfar concluded.
