Dubai: The Dubai Tourist Police Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation (CID) carried out thirty lectures and workshops last year to raise the awareness of the hotel employees and taxi drivers in the emirate on smart police services, security procedures and public safety measures. 

 

Dubai Police always keen on familiarising the hospitality and public transportation industries with safest ways to serve Dubai visitors and tourists, and ensure their happiness and satisfaction. 

 

According to the Director of the Dubai Tourist Police Department, Colonel Khalfan Al Jallaf, as many as 1722 hotel employees and taxi drivers benefited from the Department's endeavours in 2021, which aims to achieve Dubai Police's strategic objectives toward enhancing the communication between the public and private sectors. 

 

Col. Al Jallaf pointed out that the lectures and workshops discussed various services provided by the Dubai Police and Dubai Economy and Tourism Department. These were related to cybercrimes, cases of drug abuse and issues related to it, SPS services, recurring reports, and 901 services.

 

They also addressed other smart services, including the "Sail Safely" mobile application that provides all necessary functions for sailors, which assist them in tracking a cruise's journey; warning them about any delays during the trip; identifying hazards; sending distress requests directly to the Dubai Police; facilitate rapid emergency response; determine the location of those in distress as well as the type and degree of distress severity.

 

Moreover, the participants and audience were introduced to the e-crime platform, Smart Police Stations (SPS) services, and Lost & Found system at Dubai hotels, in addition to how and when to contact the police in case of emergency (on 999) and non-emergency situations (on 901).
