Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Media Council, emphasised the value of holding media conferences in which professionals from national, regional, and local governments, as well as experts and researchers in all areas of media, congregate under one roof to discuss challenges and opportunities and develop specific recommendations for this significant industry.

This came during his visit on Tuesday, to the activities of the first edition of the Global Media Congress, which is being organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), in cooperation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), running from 15th to 17th November.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi praised the level of organisation at the Global Media Congress, which deals with significant issues on media sector from various aspects, in order to contribute to the development of media work, highlighting its impacts, exploring future opportunities, and strengthening media partnerships among institutions.

He highlighted Sharjah's keenness to participate in such conferences and events that enhance its presence during it, and spotlight the most important efforts and initiatives it is working on in accordance with the vision and directives of Ruler of Sharjah.

Sultan bin Ahmed visited the platforms of the entities affiliated with the Sharjah Media Council, where he visited the platform of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, which participates in seven programmes and initiatives, and listened to a full explanation of participation in the Congress with the aim of conveying the media experience of the Emirate of Sharjah and its initiatives related to the media and government communication sectors.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council also visited to the platform of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and toured the sections of the platform that include television and radio studios.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed stopped at the platform of Sharjah Media City "Shams" and was informed of their participation in the conference, and got acquainted with the various services provided to media professionals and companies in terms of filming cinematic movies, providing locations for filming, and reviewing the experiences that took place during the previous period.

The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah ended his tour by visiting WAM's platform, where he listened to an explanation about the activities of the global conference, and was briefed on the new digital "WAM News" system equipped with the latest artificial intelligence and advanced technology.

Sultan bin Ahmed was accompanied during the visit by Dr. Khaled Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City; Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of Emirates News Agency and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the Global Media Congress (GMC); Muhammad Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and a number of senior media officials.
