Dubai Police Recognise Innovative Security Ideas

Dubai: His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, recently honoured the winners of the "Innovation Sprint" competition in the presence of Colonel Mansour Al Qarqawi, Director of the General Department of Administrative Affairs, Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saba Al Marri, Director of Knowledge, Innovation, and Development Department, and several officers. The competition aims to attract innovative ideas that leverage modern technology to enhance security and safety in the city of Dubai.

His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri reaffirmed Dubai Police's keenness to launch competitions that contribute to the development of the security system in the emirate. He pointed out that the winning projects are creative and innovative ideas that form the foundation for a pioneering future in police work.  He explained that Dubai Police believes innovation is a fundamental approach to drive performance levels and maintain the leading status achieved by the force, who continuously strive for improvement.

Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saba Al Marri stated that this year's edition of the "Innovation Sprint " received 76 ideas in the field of modern technology from external audiences, including university and college students, young people, and various community groups. The committee initially selected 26 ideas for discussion after meeting the specific criteria and competition conditions. Afterward, 12 ideas were chosen, and eventually, four innovations were announced as winners, contributing to enhanced security and safety.


Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saba Al Marri explained that the "Innovation Sprint" competition includes challenges in the following topics: smart cities, transportation and mobility, safety and security, specifically in the fields of artificial intelligence, drones, and robotics.

He noted that participating in the competition requires presenting novel ideas related to security and safety technologies, a project form, and a brief project overview. He further revealed that many ideas were submitted in areas such as the Internet of Things, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, information security, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, self-driving vehicles, and more.
