Dubai: The Hemaya International Centre, an extension of the General Department for Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police, in collaboration with the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the Positive Spirit Initiative, and several other partners, organised an awareness event for the residents of the Uptown Mirdif residential complex. 

The event aimed to introduce the wide range of services that Dubai Police offers to the community to ensure security and safety. 

Colonel Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Muamari, Director of Hemaya International Centre, highlighted the continued efforts of the Dubai Police's awareness teams in engaging with schools, universities, and residential complexes throughout Dubai to enlighten students, parents, and the general public about the roles, security services, traffic rules, and community outreach programs of the Dubai Police.

The event covered various topics, such as traffic awareness safety procedures on roads and school buses and highlighted issues like bullying, cyberbullying, and the safe use of social media platforms and the internet. 

First Lieutenant Hamed Mohammed Al Rashidi of the Hemaya International Centre delivered an enlightening talk, shedding light on Article 89 of the UAE's Anti-Narcotics Law, which exempts drug users from penalties if they voluntarily seek treatment. 

The event also emphasised the importance of students staying away from negative influences, who might entangle them in the drug maze.

As a highlight of the event, students and their guardians had the opportunity to view the luxurious Dubai Police patrols and take pictures with them. Additionally, there were demonstrations from the K9 police dogs and musical performances by the band of the Dubai Police Academy.

Major Dr Juma Bilal Al Suwaidi of the General Department of Criminal Investigation praised the external partners of Dubai Police for supporting these awareness events. Their contributions in organising and promoting these events help effectively convey messages to a wider audience in various languages, substantially reducing the challenges faced by the youth. 

He emphasised the vision of Dubai Police's leadership to promote security and safety amongst families and individuals, bridge the gap between the community and the Dubai Police, and ensure easy communication with the police at various events.
