Dubai: The United Arab Emirates Journalists Association (UAEJA) recently held its periodic General Assembly in Dubai, marking a significant moment in the organization's history with the election of its new Board of Directors. This pivotal event, overseen by the Ministry of Community Development, saw the introduction of new faces set to steer the association into its next chapter.

Fadelah Abdullah Al Muaini emerged as a leading figure in this new formation, securing 74 votes. Close on her heels were Khalid Abdul Rahman Al Ghailani and Halima Abdullah Al Mulla, who garnered 72 and 70 votes respectively. The assembly also welcomed other key members including Fatima Al Ward Al Darmaki, Hassan Youssef Imran Al Shamsi, Ali Mohammed Hassan Shahdour, Mohamed Saeed Al Tunaiji, Reem Mohamed Al Breiki, and Mohamed Junaid Al Ameri into the board. Omar Ahmed Mohamed Al Saadi and Ali Omar Al Hanouri Al Zahiri were appointed as the first and second alternate members respectively.

In a detailed review of the association's progress, Mohamed Al Hammadi, President of UAEJA, shared insights from the 2023 administrative report. A notable highlight from the report was the acceptance of 56 new membership applications, adhering to the association's stringent criteria. This includes 10 active memberships and 46 associate memberships. Consequently, the total membership count has risen to 1,371, comprising 431 active members and 940 associate members. This marks a growth rate of 4.25 percent for the association.

The election of the new board and the positive trends in membership growth underscore UAEJA's ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant journalistic community within the UAE. As it embarks on this new phase under fresh leadership, the association continues to uphold its mission of supporting and developing professional journalism across the nation.
