UAE Swat Challenge: Dubai Police establishes new centre for rapid recovery

In a move that underscores its commitment to enhancing healthcare and sports standards, the Dubai Police has established the ‘Health Hub’ to support athletes from specialized police teams participating in the UAE SWAT Challenge 2025 at no charge.

This initiative, in collaboration with the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services and Mediclinic, marks a significant advancement in healthcare for on-field athletes.

The Health Hub
The ‘Health Hub’ is equipped with the latest technologies and specialized medical equipment for treating sports injuries. It aims to improve healthcare and enhance players' quality of life after daily competitions. The hub facilitates rapid recovery and ensures that participants are physically and mentally prepared for each event through its advanced medical services.

Colonel Dr. Consultant Mohammed Al Haj, Director of Travel Services and Treatment Affairs at the General Department of Administrative Affairs and Supervisor of the ‘Health Hub’, emphasized that physical performance alone is no longer sufficient for success in modern sports. “Rapid recovery processes and advanced treatment methods have become essential to training and competition strategies. Thus, the ‘Health Hub’, launched by Dubai Police this year during the UAE SWAT Challenge, serves as a cornerstone for enhancing the daily performance and readiness of participating teams and is part of the major sporting events organized by Dubai Police,” Al Haj continued.

Rapid Recovery
He also pointed out that the ‘Health Hub’ introduces innovative approaches in sports medicine and emergency care, successfully managing 90% of the cases received during the five days of the UAE SWAT Challenge without needing to refer them to hospitals, except for advanced medical cases. Al Haj confirmed that they handled 156 medical cases and provided recovery and rehabilitation services to 978 participants. He thanked the field medical team and community volunteers who reinforced the principles of social responsibility.

New Standards
Al Haj emphasized that this center not only enhances the performance of participating teams but also establishes new healthcare standards in sporting events. He noted that this initiative demonstrates how government entities can play a vital role in supporting sports and athletes—not only through the organization but also by providing essential infrastructure and logistical support to ensure events meet the highest global standards.

Modern Technology
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Khaled Ibrahim Al Khayat, Director of Medical Operations at the Health Hub, explained that they offer a comprehensive range of medical and therapeutic services, including physiotherapy and rehabilitation. “The centre utilizes modern techniques such as cryotherapy and infrared treatments to accelerate recovery, manage inflammation, reduce muscle pain and cramps, and alleviate swelling. Additional services like massage, stretching exercises, and ice baths help restore balance and relieve tension from intense physical activity. Dubai Police provides these services free of charge to participating teams on-site throughout the challenge days,” he added.

Enhancing Quality of Life
Al Khayat also highlighted that the center stands out due to its comprehensive services. He stated, “Beyond medical and physical therapy, it emphasizes health and nutrition awareness among athletes. This includes offering specialized consultations, educating participants on the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and choosing foods that enhance physical performance and accelerate recovery. Additionally, the center promotes a sustainable health culture among athletes, positively impacting their performance during the challenge and their daily and professional lives.”

He noted that the Health Hub effectively combines exceptional organization with advanced healthcare, underscoring that integrated healthcare is essential for achieving lasting success in sports.

Al Khayat thanked all those involved in the ‘Health Hub’, including the Dubai Police Health Center, Travel Services and Treatment Affairs Department, Rehabilitation and Readiness Enhancement Center, Quality of Life Center, and the Happiness and Positivity Council, in collaboration with Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Mediclinic, Longevity Company, Life World Medical Supplies, and INF Therapy.
