Dubai Police Showcases Inclusion Practices for People of Determination in the Workforce

Dubai: As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen public-private partnerships and promote an inclusive business environment, Dubai Police, through its Council for Empowering People of Determination, took part in an awareness event hosted by the Centre for Responsible Business at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.

The initiative aimed to equip the business community with knowledge, best practices, and effective strategies for integrating people of determination into the workforce.

During the event, Hamda Bawazir, a member of the Dubai Police Council for Empowering People of Determination, a certified trainer at Dubai Police, and an accessibility specialist accredited by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) in the United States, delivered a presentation highlighting Dubai Police’s policies for empowering and integrating people of determination both within the organisation and in the wider community. She detailed the inclusive services and solutions that contribute to creating a more accessible and equitable environment for all.

“Dubai Police places the empowerment of people of determination at the heart of its agenda and strategic operations,” Bawazir explained. “Our Council operates in line with Dubai Police’s strategic vision to promote community happiness, while also supporting the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination and the ‘My Community… A City for Everyone’ initiative, which aspires to make Dubai fully inclusive and accessible for individuals of all abilities.”

She went on to say that the Council adopts a comprehensive inclusion policy that embraces all types of disabilities, both in the workplace and across society. “We aim to empower and equip individuals of determination by working in partnership with key stakeholders, ensuring their rights to equal opportunities, and actively involving them in all social, professional, and academic arenas—ultimately supporting their optimal integration into society,” she added.

Bawazir also outlined the Council’s approach to empowering both Dubai Police employees and community members with disabilities. She introduced several key services offered by Dubai Police, including sign language interpretation, the ‘On-the-Go’ service, the ‘Labbeh’ initiative, a sensory room for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, and the all-in-one accessibility toolkit, among others.

In her closing remarks, she stressed the importance of creating inclusive and supportive work environments that address the specific needs of people of determination, encouraging their active participation and productivity. She highlighted the human, social, and economic dimensions of effective inclusion and its vital role in driving long-term sustainability across the UAE.

It is worth noting that the awareness event was hosted by Dubai Chamber of Commerce—one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers—and brought together over 100 participants from the business community. The session was a platform for meaningful dialogue among key stakeholders, with contributions from Dubai Police, the Community Development Authority, and Emirates Airlines.
