Dubai Police Raises Awareness of 1,400 Workers about their Rights and Duties
- September 20, 2025
Dubai: As part of its annual efforts to foster a safe and fair working environment, the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police organised an awareness lecture targeting 1,400 workers under the “Worker’s Welfare” initiative.
The lecture, which featured distributing snacks and cold beverages to the workers, aimed to enhance their knowledge of their rights and obligations, as well as the official communication channels available with Dubai Police to ensure swift responses to their feedback and complaints.
Captain Hamad Obaid Al Shamsi, Head of the Labour Section at the Human Trafficking Crimes Monitoring Centre of the General Department of Human Rights, stressed that the lecture is part of a series of year-round awareness programmes implemented by Dubai Police for workers in labour accommodations and construction sites, in cooperation with strategic partners.
He said: “Dubai Police attaches great importance to workers as they represent a vital and essential part of society. We are committed to raising their awareness of the rights guaranteed to them under the laws and regulations of the UAE, as well as their responsibilities towards their employers and the community. These lectures are not one-off events but rather an institutional effort to promote a culture of legal awareness, empowering workers to know their rights and how to claim them through official channels, while also encouraging commitment to professional and behavioural duties. Through such programmes, we seek to build bridges of trust and direct communication between workers and Dubai Police, ensuring that their concerns are swiftly addressed and that they enjoy a work environment founded on fairness and mutual respect. This reflects the nation’s civilised image and leadership in safeguarding all members of society without exception.”
For his part, First Sergeant Nasser Al Blooshi, from the Labour Section at the Human Trafficking Crimes Monitoring Centre, explained that a key element of the lecture focused on introducing workers to Dubai Police’s official communication channels and enabling them to share feedback and suggestions. He highlighted the dedicated labour complaints service through the 901 Call Centre, the Dubai Police Smart App, and the Smart Police Stations (SPS), all of which allow workers to submit requests easily and in multiple languages.
He added: “We are keen to familiarise workers with legal protection tools and effective communication channels, as this has a direct positive impact on their job performance, as well as their psychological and social stability.”
The lecture concluded with active engagement from the workers, who raised several questions regarding their rights and how to benefit from smart services. They also expressed their gratitude to Dubai Police for its continuous efforts to promote a work environment based on justice and equality.
