Dubai Police’s Positive Spirit Organizes Basketball Tournament for Female Students

Dubai: Dubai Police, represented by the Positive Spirit Council, organized a basketball tournament for high school female students in collaboration with Al Mareef American School. The event brought together participants from various schools across Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman, with over 120 players participating.

The Al Mareef American School clinched first place, while the American Gulf School secured second, and the Sharjah American International School took third.

Support Sports Initiatives

Ms. Fatima Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police, highlighted that organizing this tournament reflects Dubai Police's commitment to advancing purposeful sports initiatives and promoting a culture of health and physical activity among students. “This aligns with Dubai's vision to enhance the overall quality of life. The event is part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 30×30, which serves as a global model for integrating sports into everyday life, fostering a cultural approach that embodies the community's vitality and awareness”, she continued.

Ms. Buhajeer stated, "At the Positive Spirit Council, we are committed to ensuring that sports play a key role in strengthening community bonds and providing safe, motivating platforms for youth. Such initiatives not only develop their skills but also help cultivate a balanced and confident personality. The success of this tournament is an extension of Dubai Police's efforts to support initiatives that promote public health and reinforce the values of happiness and quality of life for younger generations."

Healthy School System

Meanwhile, Mr. Mustafa Al Fahham, Sports Coordinator at Al Mareef American School, stated that hosting the basketball tournament for high school female students reflects the school’s commitment to fostering a sports culture and promoting health awareness among students. “This initiative extends beyond the school, positively impacting the educational and community environment across the country,” he added.

He remarked, "We are dedicated to making sports an integral part of our educational framework, as we believe in our role in nurturing well-rounded individuals who can excel both academically and behaviorally. Our slogan, 'Dubai Fitness Challenge Across the Emirates,' captures our ambition to extend the reach of the Dubai Fitness Challenge to students in various emirates, enhancing efforts to make physical activity a sustainable lifestyle for all."

The opening ceremony was attended by Ms. Fatima Buhajeer, Captain Mariam Salem Mohammed, Mahra Mohammed Al Hashemi, First Lieutenant Juma Salem Al Muqbali, and Corporal First Zawan Saeed Rashid, as well as Mr. Mustafa Al Fahham, the Physical Education Coordinator, Ms. Asma Khalil, Mr. Ahmed Zaki, and Ms. Heba Abu Al Maati from the school's Physical Education Section at the Al Mareef American School.
