Dubai: Dubai’s international fashion extravaganza popped up once again in all its glory at the futuristic mini metropolis known as the Dubai Design District. In keeping with recent form, many cutting-edge collections made their debuts, with particularly strong showings from Middle Eastern and Indian designers. Among the regional contributors were notable collections from NARMA, Dina Melwani, NŪRA, Anthropologie and Asjad, ably supported by an international cast, including two new designers from Vietnam, L'Scarlett and Soramame, although many of the highlights were from international contributors, including Kresha Bajaj. The flag of the European contingent, flaunting flavour and fervour, was championed by the chic elegance of Weinsanto, the enigmatic John Richmond, and the breathless, frenetic energy of Lili Blanc. Despite the seamless organisation and rich tapestries on display, especially the newfound vibrancy and creativity of Middle Eastern designers, Modelesque cannot help but secretly crave a more devolved showcase with the many spectacular fashions contrasted with the dramatic locations and jaw-dropping backdrops of Dubai are on full display to the world as it displays its emerging fashions.
