Dubai Police Report Decline in Criminal and Disturbing Reports in Q1 2026

Dubai: Dubai Police have recorded a decline in criminal and disturbing reports during the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year, reflecting the effectiveness of proactive security strategies and advanced crime prevention measures.

Major General Hareb Mohammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Affairs, stated that the positive results achieved by the General Department of Criminal Investigation highlight the efficiency of security plans, the impact of preventive actions, and the success of field and analytical efforts in reducing crime drivers and enhancing community reassurance.

He emphasised that Dubai Police have placed strong focus on combating fraud and cybercrime by intensifying awareness campaigns, strengthening monitoring and analytical capabilities, enhancing cybersecurity systems, and ensuring rapid response readiness to address emerging criminal methods. These efforts aim to safeguard individuals and protect their financial, digital, and personal security, alongside ongoing public awareness initiatives on fraud and cyber intrusion prevention.

The remarks were made during a performance review meeting of the General Department of Criminal Investigation for the first quarter of 2026. The meeting was attended by Major General Eid Mohammad Hareb, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Major General Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of the General Department of Excellence and Leadership; Brigadier Ahmad Al Muhairi, Director of the Inspection and Control Department; as well as directors of sub-departments and several officers.

During the meeting, attendees reviewed key performance indicators, assessed the implementation of previous decisions, analysed reports from the first quarter, and examined the overall security situation across the emirate. Discussions also covered efforts to enhance operational systems, along with ongoing projects and field-related challenges.

Major General Al Shamsi noted that qualitative initiatives implemented by the department have directly contributed to reducing crime and eliminating negative practices. These initiatives include targeted security measures, corrective actions, awareness programmes, and the “Reconciliation is Best” initiative, in addition to intensive field operations targeting hotspots and unlawful activities.

He added that these initiatives have strengthened legal awareness within the community, facilitated the resolution of disputes through civilised approaches, enhanced field team readiness, accelerated response times, and reinforced police presence in key areas. This has contributed to deterring offenders and apprehending suspects before carrying out criminal acts.
Major General Al Shamsi stressed the importance of continuously analysing both traditional and cybercrime patterns, anticipating future trends, and generating precise indicators to support decision-makers in developing more effective security strategies. He highlighted that smart data and advanced analytics have become essential tools in modern policing.
He also commended the dedication of officers, non-commissioned officers, and staff of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, noting that these achievements reflect their commitment, professionalism, and continuous efforts to ensure community safety and security.

At the conclusion of the meeting, several outstanding employees were honoured in recognition of their contributions to enhancing safety and reinforcing excellence in police work.
