Dubai: In a humanitarian gesture ahead of Eid Al Adha, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 836 prisoners of various nationalities from Dubai’s correctional and punitive institutions.

The decision reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s commitment to offering inmates an opportunity to reunite with their families and begin a new chapter in their lives.

Dubai Attorney General Chancellor Essam Issa Al-Humaidan stated that the pardon highlights Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to spread happiness among families and support the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners into society.

He added that Dubai Public Prosecution, in coordination with Dubai Police, has already initiated the legal procedures required to implement the release order.

The UAE leadership traditionally announces pardons during major religious occasions such as Eid, as part of efforts to promote compassion, social stability, and second chances for inmates.
