Dubai Police and Union Coop Promote Awareness of Safety and Security Procedures in Stadiums

Dubai: Coinciding with the kick-off of the ADNOC Pro League for the 2026-2027 football season on 14 August, Dubai Police General Command, represented by the "Your Commitment is Happiness" initiative, has launched an awareness campaign in partnership with Union Coop. The campaign highlights the responsibilities of sports fans in stadiums as outlined in Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 concerning the Security of Sports Facilities and Events, along with security and safety procedures.

Lieutenant Nabet Sultan Al Ketbi, Coordinator of the "Your Commitment is Happiness" initiative, confirmed that the awareness campaign will run electronically across Union Coop screens, reaching all shoppers and informing them of their obligations as sports fans in stadiums, along with the security and safety procedures to be followed to enjoy cheering and supporting their teams.

He added that the screens will feature a QR code that shoppers can scan to view the main security and safety procedures in stadiums, as well as a list of items prohibited inside stadiums, including glass containers, remote-controlled devices such as drones, pets, sharp objects, fireworks and flares, lasers, and more.

Lieutenant Nabet Sultan Al Ketbi praised the ongoing cooperation with Union Coop in strengthening the sports partnership and raising awareness across all segments of society.

Al Ketbi explained that the "Your Commitment is Happiness" initiative will continue this year with the launch of the Pro League, delivering a series of awareness activities aimed at enhancing engagement with sports fans and unifying efforts to promote happiness. “This will be achieved by embedding a culture of positive support and constructive criticism among all stakeholders in the game, reflecting the nation's civilised image across its sports stadiums,” he added.

Al Ketbi stated: "The initiative works to raise public awareness of the boundaries of fan support and the risks of expressing negative emotions towards others, while ensuring that fans fully understand their obligations under Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 concerning the Security of Sports Facilities and Events."

Furthermore, he noted that the provisions of the law ensure all safety measures are in place for athletes and facilities across the country, in line with advanced security standards and regulations that align with international best practices for managing security at sports events to the highest standards.
