Dubai: Dubai Police has adopted a new 2040 future vision for the General Department of Traffic, setting out a roadmap for future projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing road safety and preparing for emerging challenges over the coming years.

Aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the vision supports Dubai Police’s strategic objectives of enhancing security and safety, contributing to community happiness and driving innovation in human capabilities.

The vision was formally endorsed in the presence of Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic; Brigadier Essam Ibrahim Al Awar, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic; Colonel Omar Khalifa Balobaida Al Suwaidi, Acting Director of the Future Foresight Centre; Lieutenant Colonel Dr Khalid Mohammad Al Mansouri, Acting Director of the Future Readiness Department; as well as directors of subdepartments and heads of sections.

AI for Safer Roads

Brigadier bin Suwaidan described the vision as a strategic roadmap designed to strengthen Dubai Police’s readiness to address future challenges.
He said artificial intelligence technologies and advanced digital solutions will play an important role in supporting Dubai Police’s proactive approach to road safety and helping achieve the highest levels of protection.
The vision will also identify future priorities and trends and guide the development of proactive projects designed to respond to changes affecting traffic and road safety.

Preparing Today for the Roads of 2040

Colonel Al Suwaidi said the Future Foresight Centre is a strategic partner in designing the future of security and supporting Dubai Police’s ambition to lead in community policing.

He explained that the vision is aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to using innovation as a tool for sustainable development.

The Future Foresight Centre continues to organise meetings and retreats with general departments and police stations to generate new and innovative ideas that support the development of policing in line with government directions.

Understanding Future Risks and Opportunities

Colonel Al Suwaidi said future foresight in security and policing involves more than predicting what may happen. The approach begins by analysing the current situation, monitoring and assessing emerging trends, challenges and risks, and identifying possible future pathways. These insights are then used to develop plans and implement future projects aligned with Dubai Police’s strategic plan.
The vision also places emphasis on empowering young people to contribute actively to the development of the security and policing system.
