Dubai: Despite the gathering clouds, the designers of the world came out to storm the catwalk and make the event an unqualified success.  With contributions from Colombia, Ukraine, Vietnam (L'Scarlett) and the Middle East, fashion lovers were not disappointed by the avant-garde designs and the adventurous flair of the creators.  From the opulent splendour of Kuwait's Al Jasmi to the flamboyance of Dubai's very own Sara Pedram and the panache of Onori, the Gulf was strongly represented.  There were bold contributions too from Pallavi Puri and Krésha Bajaj from the Indian subcontinent, complemented by the enigmatic subtlety of Ukraine's KEL and the energy of Lili Blanc's contemporary Parisienne chic.  The highlight of Dubai's fashion week was perhaps the shows in a breathtaking hour from the Colombian contingent, Adriana Capasso, Laura Aparacio & Monica Schuster, combining Latin energy and verve with undertones of a more classical age. All we can do as fashion followers is to wait with bated breath for the next instalment and thank the Arab Fashion Council and Design District for putting this show on in a matter of weeks.
