Q: Why do you like cricket? And what made you enter the cricket field?
A: I like cricket because it is the most watched sport and I also have an emotional connection with it. Cricket is one sport where both skills and mind work together. It develops overall fitness and stamina.

I used to watch my brother playing cricket when we would go to drop him for practice. One day I got an opportunity to play, and that’s how I started to play at the age of eight.

Q: How was your first experience on the cricket field?
A: It was a mind-blowing experience which was very different, full of excitement and thrills. When I wore my jersey, it gave me a special sense of responsibility. Only one thing was on my mind that I wanted to play for the TEAM.

Q: What is your inspiration and who inspired you the most?
A: The people who have supported me from the beginning of my career are my greatest inspiration.

Q: What are your failures and what did you learn from them?
A: If I think about failures, the success rate will be diminished. Success allows me to celebrate but failure teaches me a lesson. No one should fear failure.

Q: How do you manage school, studies, and cricket together?
A: It is not easy to manage my passion and my studies, as both are completely different. I focus equally on both. Practise when you practise and study when you study. I have to be organised with my time and schedule when to get on the field and when to study.

I am so thrilled to be participating in ICC U19 women’s world cup qualifier, and representing the UAE. I have received tremendous support, commitment and belief in me from Emirates Cricket. Thanks to the Board, Senior Management and coaching team.
