UNESCO invests US$1M to support artists and intellectuals in 25+ countries

New York: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has announced a new investment of US$1 million to support artists and intellectuals in more than 25 countries worldwide.
The announcement was made in a report released by UNESCO on the occasion of the World Summit on Arts and Culture. The report aims to encourage governments to provide greater support and protection to artists and professionals working in the cultural sector, as well as to offer assistance in emergency situations.
The report outlines various ways to enhance the resilience of artists in emergency situations. The additional investment comes from from the UNESCO-Aschberg Programme and will be divided into 13 government projects and 12 NGO projects.
