Dubai: The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has joined the world in marking Stop Cyberbullying Day 2023, which was launched by the United Nations to raise awareness about combating various forms of bullying, primarily cyberbullying falling on June 16th.

As part of the Foundation's digital campaign commemorating the occasion, a series of informative publications were disseminated, explaining the concept and forms of cyberbullying, and providing the community with valuable advice about the pervasive phenomenon via the Foundation's official social media platforms.

The awareness-raising materials, divided into three categories, with the first defining direct and indirect cyberbullying, phenomena that have become notably prevalent following the COVID-19 pandemic's shift to virtual education.

The second part of the campaign urged immediate reporting of harmful behaviors to the dedicated contact number, 800988. In its third segment, the Foundation provided a range of tips to help children avoid becoming victims of cyberbullying, educating them about the importance of privacy and reporting mechanisms. Families were encouraged to foster trust and love in their homes.

Through its annual participation in this event, DFWAC aims to provide an ideal, safe platform for digital use while encouraging the community members to commit to fostering an inclusive and diverse digital environment free from threats, harassment, or abuse.

Speaking on the occasion, HE Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director of DFWAC, underlined that the foundation’s engagement in such global events not only aligns with the global humanitarian focus but also encapsulates the UAE's humanitarian ethos of offering women and children the best means to safety and protection. This approach is further bolstered by a series of achievements in this respect.
