Dubai: The Community Development Authority in Dubai celebrated the International Day for Tolerance, which falls on November 16 and serves as an occasion to emphasise the importance of coexistence and collaboration among different cultures and religions on humanitarian grounds. The event was attended by representatives of civil society organisations in Dubai licenced by the Authority.

The event, held at the Etihad Museum, encompassed a narrative of tolerance stories shared by attendees through the 'Tree of Tolerance.'

Additionally, a panel discussion titled 'Tolerance Unites Us' took place, featuring Dr. Faisal Ikram from the Pakistani Association. During this session, participants delved into their experiences, illustrating instances of positive and constructive coexistence among diverse nationalities and races within the country. They affirmed that the leadership's direction in the UAE, in disseminating and promoting tolerance, has been the paramount factor in fostering solidarity among various segments of society in the nation.

Dr. Omar Al Muthanna, CEO of the Social Regulatory and Licencing Sector in CDA in Dubai, confirmed that the global model presented by the country in positive coexistence between different cultures and religions constituted a milestone from which countries draw inspiration and strengthened the country’s position as a global destination for tourism, the economy, and even for retirement.

 He said, "Tolerance has been integral to the positive image of the UAE since its establishment, fostering values of love, coexistence, and respect for others. Our celebration of the International Day for Tolerance reflects our commitment to continue following in the footsteps of our wise leadership, enhancing its vision to solidify the country's position as a hub for cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence. This is based on the principles of tolerance, understanding, and respecting differences to build a cohesive community where all its members enjoy stability and happiness.”
