Dubai Event Security Committee Gears Up for the Final Ten Nights of Ramadan

Dubai: The Event Security Committee (ESC) in Dubai has reaffirmed its readiness to ensure a smooth and organised traffic flow during the final ten nights of Ramadan, particularly around mosques and prayer areas.

Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and Chairman of the ESC emphasised the importance of facilitating road users’ comfort, easing traffic congestion, and ensuring efficient parking arrangements for worshippers.

During the first coordination meeting, the committee discussed security and organisational measures for key tourist destinations, shopping centres, and prayer areas during the Eid Al-Fitr holidays.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic and Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Major General Tariq Tahlak, Director of Naif Police Station, Brigadier Musabbah Al Ghafli, Acting Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency, and officers and representatives from relevant authorities attended the meeting.

Call for Responsible Parking and Road Safety

Major General Al Ghaithi urged the public to adhere to traffic regulations and avoid random parking in front of mosques during Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers in the last ten nights of Ramadan.
He noted that in previous years, violations included:
• Double-parking, blocking other vehicles.
• Obstructing entire lanes, causing unnecessary congestion.
• Parking in front of road exits, preventing other motorists from leaving.
• Leaving vehicles on pavements disrupts the city’s visual appeal.
• Remaining in mosques for extended periods without considering others’ access needs.

“These actions cause traffic disruption and inconvenience other road users, forcing them to wait for long periods or seek police intervention. Such behaviour contradicts the spirit of Ramadan, a month of tolerance and consideration for others,” Al Ghaithi stated.

Increased Traffic Patrols for Efficient Flow

To curb these violations, traffic patrols will be intensified around mosques and prayer areas, particularly during peak prayer times. Strict enforcement measures will be taken against motorists committing traffic offences, ensuring smooth traffic flow across the emirate.

Major General Al Ghaithi reiterated the importance of full compliance with traffic regulations, noting that responsible parking practices will contribute to a safe and organised to enjoy the spiritual essence of Ramadan without unnecessary disruptions fully without unnecessary disruptions.
