Maj. Gen. Ahmed Zaal visits Dubai Police’s Stand at AccessAbilities Expo 2025

Dubai: His Excellency Major General Dr. Ahmed Zaal bin Kershan Al Muhairi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Financial and Administrative Affairs at Dubai Police, visited the Dubai Police stand during the seventh edition of the AccessAbilities Expo, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

He was accompanied by Brigadier Dr. Sultan Al Jammal, Director of the Dubai Police Academy, and Brigadier Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Youssef Al Shehhi, Dean of the Academy.

During his visit, Major General Ahmed Zaal listened to a brief presentation by Major Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Deputy Chairman of the People of Determination Empowerment Council, about the range of security, community, and criminal-related services tailored for people of determination,  which underscore Dubai Police's unwavering commitment to supporting and integrating this community across various sectors.

Maj. Gen. Ahmed Zaal praised the efforts of all teams participating in the exhibitions, emphasizing that Dubai Police's involvement reflects the wise vision of our leadership in fostering social justice and humanitarian integration.

He remarked, "Dubai Police has become a role model in adopting innovative solutions and delivering high-quality services that enhance the quality of life for people of determination, empowering them to contribute to our development journey actively. We believe that investing in the abilities of people of determination is an investment in the future, given their exceptional talents and potential, especially when provided with the right tools and institutional support. The collaborative efforts observed today among various police sectors at this exhibition, as well as between government and private institutions, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to realizing Dubai's vision of becoming the most friendly and empowering city for people of determination in the world."

People of Determination Immediate Support

The stand has introduced the Immediate Support service, designed to empower individuals with physical, auditory, or visual disabilities across all Emirates. This innovative service enables users to register and enroll, ensuring they receive priority ambulance dispatch and a swift, tailored response in emergencies.

Through advance registration for people of determination, the service streamlines the immediate identification of their needs when a call is received, thus accelerating the decision-making process. This proactive approach significantly reduces response times in critical situations.

Smart Glove

The Hemaya Schools made a notable appearance at the event, where 10 students from the Boys' Hemaya School performed the national anthem in sign language. This performance reflects their progress since sign language was integrated into their curriculum. A total of 30 students engaged in the ‘With Our Touch, We Create Art’ activities and interactive workshops organized by ‘Khalid’ magazine, published by the Security Media Department of Dubai Police.

Among the highlights was an innovative project created by 14-year-old Najah Bayan Abu Nabut, an eighth-grader. She developed a simple yet impactful model to assist patients with Erb's palsy in improving their upper limb mobility, marking her inaugural step into the world of innovation.

Najah's invention is a smart glove equipped with sensors that mimic nerve function, specifically designed for a student with determination who faces challenges due to Erb's palsy in her left shoulder. This glove enables natural hand movements through a device connected to the brain. Najah shared that her inspiration comes from witnessing the struggles of others and her heartfelt desire to improve their quality of life. She utilizes basic electronic components, mechanical tools, and design software to bring her ideas to fruition.

‘With Our Touch, We Create Art’

Over three days at the exhibition, the Positive Spirit Council organises an inclusive interactive workshop titled ‘With Our Touch, We Create Art’. This workshop offers a variety of creative activities, including flower arrangement and candle making, designed to develop sensory and motor skills among individuals with determination while fostering their innovative spirit.

Ms. Fatima Buhajeer, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council and Coordinator of the Sports Committee at the People of Determination Empowerment Council, noted that this initiative reflects the council's commitment to promoting the inclusion of individuals of determination in diverse initiatives and events. “The workshop creates an engaging environment that unites trainees, visitors, individuals of determination, supervisors, and specialists, all aimed at enhancing communication skills, boosting social interaction, and building self-confidence,” she continued.

In addition, the council presents a film showcasing its collaborative efforts with the People of Determination Empowerment Council to achieve institutional integration and community empowerment. This initiative encompasses year-round events and programs that underscore Dubai Police's commitment to enhancing the quality of life and promoting community well-being, while upholding the values of tolerance, human solidarity, and the empowerment of all individuals, without exception.

Art Therapy

The Quality of Life Center at Dubai Police offers a three-day workshop titled ‘Art Therapy’ for individuals of determination. This workshop aims to enhance mental well-being through engaging in crafts and activities. Participants will have the opportunity to express their feelings and relieve stress in a creative and supportive environment.

Additionally, these sessions empower individuals to discover their unique abilities while developing essential sensory and motor skills. Moreover, these workshops foster a nurturing atmosphere for healing and inner balance.

 Sign Language

In its commitment to promoting inclusivity and community integration, the People of Determination Empowerment Council at Dubai Police provides a specialized team of sign language interpreters at the Dubai Police stand.

Mohammed Al Hajjaji, Secretary of People of Determination Empowerment Council and a Certified Sign Language Interpreter, highlighted that the presence of these specialized interpreters reflects Dubai Police's dedication to excellence, integration, and the delivery of high-quality policing and humanitarian services for all, ensuring full support for the deaf community among visitors at the Dubai Police stand.

He further stated, "In addition to our specialized team, we have trained 20 students from Hemaya Schools in sign language interpretation as part of the 'Young Interpreter' initiative. This program not only cultivates a culture of inclusion for the deaf community but also empowers students to engage in this vital service at events and exhibitions actively."
