Dubai Police concludes ‘Health and Physical Readiness’ Initiative for Inmates

Dubai: The General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments at Dubai Police has successfully concluded the ‘Health and Physical Readiness for Inmates 2025’ initiative which aimed to enhance inmates' physical fitness and overall health, encouraging a healthy lifestyle that positively impacts their mental and physical well-being.

The program was organized in cooperation with the General Department of Training, the Center for Rehabilitation & Readiness Enhancement, and the Dubai Police Health Center.

Colonel Hassan Issa Al Falasi, Acting Director of the Supply and Logistics Department at the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments, emphasized that the initiative successfully achieved its objectives in contributing to improving the quality of life within the establishments by creating a healthy environment that enhances inmates' physical readiness and prepares them both physically and mentally for life after their sentences.

He noted that the positive results achieved during the initiative’s implementation demonstrate the inmates’ awareness and strong engagement with the programs offered. “This success paves the way for the continuation of similar sports and health initiatives in the future, especially considering local trends like the "Dubai Fitness Challenge 2025," which promotes exercise and advocates for adopting a healthy lifestyle as part of daily life,” Al Falasi continued.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Obaidly, Director of the Inmate Education and Training Department, highlighted that the awareness programs and training activities included in the initiative offered an effective platform for fostering a culture of sports, health, and proper nutrition among inmates. “These efforts significantly increased their understanding of the fundamentals of physical fitness and the importance of healthy daily habits,” he added.

Lt. Col. Al Obaidly emphasized that the Inmate Education and Training Department is committed to continually developing comprehensive training and rehabilitation content that addresses the individual needs of inmates, thereby enhancing their prospects for successful reintegration into society.

The initiative, which lasted six months, featured a diverse range of awareness programs and workshops focused on sports nutrition and fitness classes. It included comprehensive assessments of body fat percentages, as well as body mass index.

Additionally, each inmate received individual health consultations and customized meal plans tailored to their health and physical condition, all supervised by specialists in sports medicine and therapeutic nutrition. This approach significantly enhanced health awareness and encouraged commitment to appropriate dietary and exercise habits.

At the end of the event, Col. Hassan Issa Al Falasi recognized the top-performing inmates with in-kind and cash prizes, commending the efforts of all participants and reaffirming Dubai Police's dedication to fostering positive motivation within correctional establishments.
