India–Georgia Relations Strengthened During High-Level Parliamentary Talks

New Delhi: A high-level parliamentary delegation from Georgia, led by Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, met with Hon’ble Vice-President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha,C. P. Radhakrishnan, at Parliament House today.

The discussions were described as “fruitful” by both sides, with a focus on the growing ties between the two countries. Both delegations welcomed the opening of the new Indian Embassy in Georgia and highlighted the prospects of enhanced direct connectivity. The talks emphasized strengthening India–Georgia relations, shared democratic values, and the importance of institutionalizing regular parliamentary engagement.

The delegations also explored avenues for broader cooperation in several sectors, including tourism, information technology, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, the film industry, and sports. Additionally, both sides discussed deepening academic exchanges between universities, supporting the growing presence of Indian students in Georgia, and boosting tourism flows. These developments were positively acknowledged by both parties.

The meeting reflects the shared commitment of India and Georgia to deepen bilateral ties and enhance collaboration across multiple spheres of mutual interest.
