Dr. Azad Moopen Welcomes Kerala Budget 2026, Calls for Focus on Healthcare, Agriculture and AI-Driven Education
- June 20, 2026
Thiruvananthapuram: Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, has welcomed the Kerala Budget 2026, describing it as a progressive and development-oriented roadmap aimed at strengthening the state's long-term growth and social well-being.
Congratulating Chief Minister V.D. Satheeshan on presenting the budget, Dr. Moopen said Kerala has consistently excelled in human development indicators and now has the opportunity to position itself as a global hub for knowledge, innovation, and sustainable development.
He emphasized that three key sectors—healthcare, agriculture, and artificial intelligence-powered education—should receive mission-mode attention in the coming years to drive the state's next phase of growth.
Highlighting the importance of healthcare, Dr. Moopen said Kerala should continue investing in quality healthcare services, medical technology, digital health solutions, preventive care, research, and medical education. Such measures, he noted, would improve healthcare outcomes for citizens while strengthening Kerala’s reputation as a leading healthcare destination.
On agriculture, he stressed the need for technology-driven and sustainable farming practices. Greater support for farmers, agri-entrepreneurship, food processing industries, and modern agricultural methods would significantly enhance rural prosperity and food security, he said.
Dr. Moopen also underlined the growing importance of artificial intelligence in education. He said Kerala has the potential to become India's leading AI-enabled knowledge economy by integrating AI, digital skills, innovation, research, and entrepreneurship into its educational framework. This, he added, would equip young people with the skills needed for future jobs and emerging opportunities.
According to Dr. Moopen, healthcare, agriculture, and AI-driven education can serve as the three pillars of Kerala’s future development model. With a clear vision and collective commitment, he said, Kerala can emerge as a global example of inclusive growth, innovation, and human progress.
His remarks come amid growing discussions on the state's economic and social development priorities following the presentation of the Kerala Budget 2026.
