Dubai: Dubai Police has urged road users to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, inspect tyres regularly, and monitor their condition, especially during the current period of the year when temperatures reach their highest levels, and as many community members travel overland over long distances.

The Force emphasised the need to increase awareness and strengthen traffic culture among drivers about the importance of ensuring vehicle safety and roadworthiness to protect their lives and the lives of others.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, pointed out that amid the high temperatures experienced during summer, drivers must ensure all safety and security measures are in place in their vehicles, conduct regular inspections, and adhere to traffic laws and regulations while driving.

He warned against installing any external additions to vehicles from unauthorised sources, which often lead to frequent breakdowns and are a major cause of vehicle fires. He noted that police authorities across the country are conducting intensive traffic awareness and enforcement campaigns during this period, with a focus on vehicles with expired tyres to protect the lives of road users.

Brig. Juma bin Suwaidan noted that the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police recorded 3,589 vehicle parts safety violations during the first five months of this year. “These included 1,737 violations for driving a vehicle that does not meet safety and security requirements, 1,026 violations for driving an unroadworthy vehicle, and 826 violations for driving with expired tyres,” he concluded.
